Gosh, where to start? I have so many good things to say about Rich (Virginia Bath Company) and his crew! You can forget all the stereotypical notions you've heard (or experienced) with contractors, Rich is an anomaly in his business in the best possible way! He knows his trade like the back of his hand, and the quality of his work is outstanding. He is very conscientious, uses quality materials, and has his timelines dialed to a T, he is truly a master of his craft. I called all of the references he gave me and heard the same thing over and over, he does fantastic work. On time, on budget. And I'll say to you what I heard most from his other clients - if you hire Rich, you won't regret it. And I agree 150%.

Rich did a (large) master bathroom remodel for us in May 2018. His quote was detailed and accurate, he started on time (actually a day earlier!) and finished on time. He personally was on the job every single day. He and his crew arrived on time every morning, put up protective barriers, and cleaned up every afternoon. Rich is very personable, easy to work with, and always kept us up to date with where things were. Very prompt to respond to emails, phone calls and texts when I had questions. I especially appreciated his ability to grasp "my vision" of how I wanted the MBA to look and make suggestions with the selection of the tile, granite, cabinets and accessories. He was a huge help with the tile placement and layout suggestions. My "vision" was captured perfectly and I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. So much so that I also hired him to do a small remodel in our powder room last September. AND he'll be remodeling our upstairs bathroom later this month!! My only regret - that I don't have any more bathrooms to remodel!! I highly recommend him!

​Wilson - Williamsburg Master Bath Remodel

We decided to do a complete remodel of our master bathroom and contracted with Virginia Bath Company (Rich Sowinski) for the job. We couldn’t be more pleased with the way things worked out. We can summarize our experience in “4 C’s.”

Communication: Rich was unfailingly responsive. Email and text messages were his primary media, which suited us well (avoiding phone tag). The terms of the contract were precise and explicit. Once the job began, Rich started each day by telling us what he would be doing. We never felt in the dark about any aspect of the work.

Courtesy: Given the expected disruption and inconvenience of this kind of project, the personalities of the people doing the work can make things easier or more difficult. Rich and all of his associates were unfailingly polite and pleasant. This seriously lessened the disruption in our lives while the work was being done. In fact, we began to look forward to Rich’s appearance each morning to brief us on the day’s work in his extremely cheerful and positive manner.

Coordination: Since this was a complete remodel, the job involved Rich and his assistant, a cabinet maker for the new vanity, a plumber, an electrician, a painter, the people who built and installed the glass door for the shower, and the people who installed the new countertop. Every single one of these did their appointed job on the exact date promised by Rich; there was not a single exception. This speaks volumes about the relationship Rich has with his subcontractors.

Craftsmanship: The new bathroom looks great. We do not have a single complaint with the quality of the workmanship (and we have looked over the final result very carefully).

Overall, we recommend Virginia Bath Company without reservation. They provided, by far, the best experience we have had with serious work on our house.

We hired Virginia Bath Company to do a full renovation of our master bathroom (Oct 2018) and they knocked it out of the park! From consultation through completion, everything exceeded our expectations. This was no small job – they ripped out the old floor, shower stall, tub, toilet, vanity, removed the wallpaper, and installed a custom walk in tiled shower, tile floor, new vanity, and new shelving – but somehow, they made it look easy. Rich and Mike were a true pleasure to work with – knowledgeable, flexible, polite, responsive, efficient, patient, and they showed up on time every day with a smile on their faces. They kept the work area tidy (including the path to and from the garage) and were conscientious of our home, our dog, and my adapted work schedule. They offered excellent guidance when needed, kept me looped in on what was being done each day so I knew what to expect, used good quality products, and executed impeccable workmanship. They paid attention to the small details that have a big impact, like looking at the patterns on the tiles to pick just the right one to have the veining flow together, or centering the odd length tile pieces to look like a design element. I was not surprised to find out I am not the first client to plead with him to start doing kitchen renovations! I am so happy our neighbor recommended Rich – I would trust him to work on any project in our home and I enthusiastically recommend Virginia Bath Company to anyone looking for a bathroom remodel.

It was all an extremely positive experience. Rich Sowinski, who did all the costing and did/supervised all the renovations, was professional and reliable. He has a good experienced eye, and we relied on his aesthetic judgement on many issues in the renovation. He gave estimates on the basic demolition and renovation, and then gave us options for all of the new fittings, etc that we wanted, so that we could tailor the fittings to our particular budget. He stayed within those estimates (both re pricing and duration of the work - it all took about 10 days in all), and there were no nasty surprises re additional costs. We changed our minds on a couple of things, and he came in and repriced them for us. He is always very fast responding to emails and calls. The cost estimates were always extremely detailed. We bought most of the materials through vendors and got a decent discount from them in Rich's name. The last thing he and his team did was to clean the house when they left. You'll have to book him a few months in advance probably, as I've no doubt he is in demand, but we would use him again and wait again for him for this kind of renovation. Main thing is that the end-product looks very high quality and professional.
